School: Patrick is a junior at Temple University and Sean is a
junior at Pennsbury High School
Instrument: Patrick: percussion; Sean: clarinet
Years in PYO program: Patrick: 5 years; Sean: 3 years
Favorite PYO memory: A favorite memory from PYO that
we share is the side-by-side rehearsal with The Philadelphia
Orchestra. To have the opportunity to observe a professional
rehearsal environment, discuss the movement of pieces with
such talented musicians and be critiqued by performers of that
caliber was truly remarkable.
Do you practice together: We do not practice together per se,
but we both practice at the same time often, so there is a lot of
music going on between that and both of our parents practicing.
Does having a sibling in PYO motivate you to practice
more: We feel that it is important to come to rehearsals, and
obviously concerts with our parts ready to go. We feel that the
responsibility to the music is to put in the time to have our
parts prepared. Having a sibling in the ensemble is not the
prime motivator to practice more, but it is helpful in the respect
that there is another person to bounce ideas off of and talk
about the music with close at hand.
Career aspirations: We both plan to pursue music as a career.
I, Patrick, am studying music education at Temple University.
Following graduation I hope to become a band director. I, Sean,
hope to one day become a professional clarinetist.
