THIS PAGE IS FOR PRYSM (Philadelphia Region Youth String Music).

  • Auditions are open to student string players ranging in age from 8 through 17 years (exceptions made for exceptional younger students).
  • Students are placed by the artistic staff according to musical ability.
The applicant and/or parent/guardian agree that all decisions concerning placement and participation in the PRYSM program are at the sole discretion of the artistic staff, and that their decisions are final.

Annual tuition for the 2008-2009 season is $965.00. A non-refundable $225.00 deposit is due at the time an accepted student registers for the PYO program. Tuition balance is due by the first rehearsal of the concert season.

Tuition remission is available for those accepted students who demonstrate financial need. Applications are available upon request. Please contact the PYO office at info@pyos.org or 215.545.0502 for more information.

To schedule an audition:

Step 1: Please complete the online registration form. Contact the office only if you are unable to register online due to technical reasons at info@pyos.org or 215.545.0502.

Step 2: Everyone who auditions is required to print a PRYSM Audition Form, complete it, and bring it to the audition. Click here to download the form (PDF File).

Audition Requirements
  • Students should have completed Suzuki Book 3 or equivalent.
  • Students should play two scales of their choice, one major and one minor, in two octaves, détaché, with quarter notes equal 60 on the metronome.
  • Students are to bring one solo piece of their choosing.
  • Students should have permission of their private teacher to audition and participate in the program.
